We aim for all pupils leaving Marden Primary School to be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. All children in KS1 and KS2 are provided with 2 hours of curriculum PE time a week, plus opportunities to engage in extracurricular clubs in addition to phase PE lessons. We encourage active playtimes and active lunchtimes to ensure every child is getting their recommended 60 minutes of activity per day; we also implement the Daily Mile to provide children with extra active minutes.

Competitive Sport 2019 – 2020

This year, we will continue to take part in the Sainsbury’s School Games, an initiative organised through our local secondary schools, which provides a number of opportunities to take part in “Festivals” in a number of different sports. These events provide a chance to compete in competitive tournaments against local primary schools. This year, we have also joined WOKSSA to increase the number of competitive opportunities for our pupils.

Preparation for these events is either provided through extra-curricular clubs or PE lessons in school. We value the chance for children to take part in matches against other schools. Many thanks to staff who offer their time freely to organise these events and, as always, to parents who provide valuable transport and support.
