All families are automatically members of the PTA when their child joins our academy and we are incredibly fortunate to have a PTA that has been an integral part of the community for a number of years. In its time the PTA has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance the children’s learning experience and the academy’s facilities.
Who are we?
We are primarily a fundraising body that helps to provide things that are not able to be provided for in the academy’s normal budget, however our PTA is about much more than simply fundraising. We also exist to provide closer links between home and school and to help create a rich community feel involving all children, staff, parents and locals.
We come in all shapes, sizes and lifestyles. Most of us are juggling mums and dads with varying levels of time to give. Some are super organised, some super scatty and most somewhere in between – we can’t make every meeting nor volunteer for every event but neither are we expected to.
All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. There are always jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare e.g. wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets etc. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help that we receive.
Who are the PTA Committee Officers?
The PTA Committee Officers for 2021/22 are:
- Chair – Mrs Kate Andrews
- Secretary – Miss Vikki Holness
- Treasurer – Mr Alan Diwell
How does the PTA raise money?
Like most PTAs, the majority of our funds are raised through events. We run fun, social (and sometimes educational) events throughout the year including our annual curry and quiz night, glow discos, fireworks night, Easter egg hunts and the Summer and Christmas Fairs.
We raise money in other ways too. Donations from parents are extremely important. You can donate time, money, items for sale, raffle prizes or offers of services and skills.
