Rather than producing a Headteacher’s Newsletter, I will be adding to this blog on a regular basis. This is a chance for me to showcase some of the reasons why I am so proud to be Headteacher at Marden!

End of Term 1

It has been a busy and exciting start to the school year! I have loved joining in with some of the activities the children have been able to participate in this term; some personal highlights have been:

Grandparents’ Day – the children sang so beautifully in assembly and our visitors enjoyed joining in back in class. We have some talented grandparents!

World Food Day – a fantastic range of food, from many different countries,  was prepared and tasted across the school.

Harvest Assembly – the children reflected on World Food Day and the possibility of a ZeroHunger World. Thank you for your donations of food which were sent to Maidstone Christian Care.

Woodland Creatures Day – KS1 all dressed up as woodland creatures to immerse themselves in their topic of Into the Woods.

No Pens Day Wednesday – an opportunity for children to develop their speaking, listening and creativity. Great fun and really worthwhile!

Year 5 and 6 Ancient Greece Day – we had amazing costumes, amazing learning and amazing food that included moussaka and baklava – yum!

Arts Week – there has been a fantastic range of artists studied, from Arcimboldo to Monet, and the children have produced some stunning pieces of art.

I am so pleased with how our newest children have settled into the Reception classes, Elves and Sprites. It is a joy to see them come in so happily in the morning and to watch them discovering new things.
